You could wear skinny jeans or leggings with a short dress or layer a pretty slip under the it. My friend even sewed a band of matching fabric at the bottom. :)
I love to wear skirts in the summer because it gets so hot but Of course I sew a few of my own if I can't find any long enough.
i saw a really cute pair of shorts that I thought I might add a band too because they were so comfy.
i have to confess i look at your blog everytime i go to heather's, and i absolutely love the domestically dressed thing you've got goin' on here.
i'm posting because i have the same problem. it so hard to stay fashionable, cool, modest, and comfortable in the hot summer days. so when you find the solution be sure to post all about it, because i'm ding here:)
